Why is it when we get back from holidays or a little break, we feel tired and sometimes, weary? There is a great deal of truth in the jest that we all need another holiday to get over one.
Thanks Isadora - Some of the time was excellent; in general the weather favoured us.
The travelling, would be great if the starting line was a little nearer take off point.
Back to the scales on Tuesday or Wednesday methinks. I was static at point of departure. I feel it was anything but that thereafter.
LOL, it can only get better.
I was weighed last Monday and have reached a stalemate! that's three weeks now at the same weight so still around four pounds above where I want to be. Two weeks to go before I go back to Spain so don't see much chance of shedding any more for a while![]()
I guess, when I take the step onto the scales, I shall at best, be the same (I hope).
Yes. You are not the first person to have mentioned this little known fact. Perhaps this is why I only had one three-day holiday between 1978 and 1990.
You are very wise, indeed. While we regenerated our heads, our physical selves will take a lot longer to do the same thing I believe!
Do I take it that you are a Sibelius lover? If so, join the clan!
If you follow the link, you will discover that Sibelius software is a specialist music engraving software. I am a professional composer. However, yes, and incidentally, I am also a big Sibelius fan! Jonathan
Oh, that Sibelius - I'd forgotten all about that particular software, it's a long time since I heard anything about it. The software is obviously a good tool for those that have the ability to exploit it's capabilities.
I'll follow the link later on to bring me up to date. Thanks.
Especially with the weather down here anyway - very depressing.
We were lucky with the weather, when it rained in the daytime (not often), it wasn't for long and the worst of it was overnight. I enjoyed much warmth and wore the lightweight clothes I have which only get aired once in a blue moon where I live.
My own vacations end up being as much work (if not more) than simply staying behind. This seems to be a pretty common phenomenon!
It sure does seem to be a common phenomenon, as you say Josh and funnily enough, it's one that we cover up with that old jesting adage as well. You could be viewed as ungrateful for small mercies if you come back from a vacation, seriously saying how much you need another one. Humour, as Freud aptly theorised, deals with many powerful emotions and perceptions without it always being realised that this is what is actually happening.
Is this a massive societal collusion, a deception, a reality tool that is less painful than straight talking? Those questions are too complex for me to consider further just now.
How are you doing?
M x
It depends on the type of vacation for me. If I am at a resort, I lounge about all day, moving from the lounge chair at the ocean side to the buffet table and back again. This is repeated throughout the day. LOL.
Now if I am on a holiday where I am exploring a town or a country, then I am zipping through everywhere at lightning speed and actually need a holiday from my holiday.
I missed you
Hi MM,
We were doing much of what you describe in the second para, flitting around here and there. We're not lounging types even when we have been to beaches. We live close to beautiful ones where there is room for the few people who frequent them. The only water we were near were canals and the odd river.
Thank you for your compliment - it's good to be back in contact.
When are you due to sprout wings?
Don't worry Menhir, give a week or two and you won't remember ever going on holiday.....

Uh - Oh, I guess I should look forward to that then. Is that what is called cognitive failure or blessιd blocking?
that's funny, my mother only told me today about an item on the radio about a genuine condition related to depression and weariness after returning from a holiday. apparently the absolute worst thing you can do is come back and go back to work the next day. it puts a huge amount of mental stress on a person and that manifests itself as physical symptoms. my family have done this, my friends have... i would not even consider it! i'd rather not go away at all! hope you had a lovely time.
Hello MB
That's a very interesting point you make and one I shall seriously think about. It has great truth in it, in particular with my present experience.
This break had to include some family needs and an unplanned one as well. It did take its toll, especially the unplanned one. We were able to have some relaxation around the other situations but not that one. it took up one of my days for adjusting to returning to the usual routines and used up a lot of physical and emotional energy.
I have to admit that yesterday I could have done with a hidey hole.
Good to hear from you.
hope you get some time for yourself soon.
MB
thanks
Have a hug from me.
hugs back!
