I am happily tracking sprog who is currently doing some 'summer camp' work, with foreign kids aged 10 -14 years who are in the UK primarily for a holiday and to improve their English. None of them wants to be in a learning environment and yet sprog is employed to teach these dear sweet souls our language. Yesterday she lost four of them on their way to the classroom and today she's escorting twelve kids around Brighton! I'm waiting for the next episode in the saga. It's just as well she's only filling in till they get someone else; it makes it a short week. This story could have been on a one month's trajectory. ![]()

I'm waiting to hear how many she lost in Brighton.
The difference between you and mine is, you were a trained teacher, sprog is not a trained primary school teacher she has a teaching EFL qualification for adults, which doesn't quite match up to primary school teaching techniques She's been picking the brains of two trained teachers who are doing a holiday job on site. As I said, she's only helping out till Sunday.

Louise did some summer camps in the States when she was a lot younger and they were horrendous. I don't think she lost anyone but was probably tempted too. Hope your daughter survives it.

Thanks L-L I'm sure we'll soon find out!
She did one last year, with a taster EFL course behind her and before obtaining a proper qualification, survived it, just, and promised she'd never do another 'residential' camp for a month.

Lost four !
The best way yet that I have heard of reducing class sizes.
I used to have up to 49 in a class.
We pressed on regardless - no moans and no strikes !
